Welcome back to This Week in Indie Games! Life took over last week and I was unable to get together a list of indies for which I apologise! But we’re back on the wheel this week, and we’ve got railways to run, some thief simulating, and kingdoms to defend. Let’s get right into things…

Station to Station (October 3)

Sharing the same name as a classic David Bowie record, Station to Station immediately had me hooked when it was initially revealed earlier this year, and as it prepares to pull into the launch day station, I’m pretty excited to see how this minimalist railway builder comes to fruition. As each playthrough progresses, you’ll be tasked with placing new stations and building connections to allow this rural world to expand and grow.

Each level offers optional challenges, stack bonuses, and unique mechanics tied to every biome, and as you expand your train empire into new areas, a rich tapestry of funa, flora, and wildlife unfolds in front of you. It’s definitely going to be perfect for the more laidback gamers out there, and I for one can’t wait to see how this delightful looking game turns out.

Station to Station steams onto Steam on October 3.

Thief Simulator 2 (October 4)

Thief Simulator 2 gives you the chance to dive head first into a life of crime, stealing expensive cars, plenty of bank notes, and valuable jewellery however you see fit. From petty theft, to full-scale planned out ‘jobs’, there’s plenty of thieving to do here, and as you build experience you’ll discover new tools, even more impressive skills, and the ability to hack security systems.

Even the best plan can fall apart, and the local police are just waiting for a chance to put you in handcuffs. Stay one step ahead of law enforcement by upgrading your equipment, and levelling up your thief. It is up to you if you choose to stay stealthy, or wield a baton and take down any potential assailants.

Thief Simulator 2 sneaks onto Steam, Xbox systems, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation systems on October 4.

A Tiny Sticker Tale (October 4)

Cozy adventure game ‘A Tiny Sticker Tale‘ takes you on an adventure all about changing the world. The twist here is that all of this world changing is possible through the power of stickers. Step into the tiny boots of Flynn, the donkey, and traverse across the island of Figori, discovering the colourful quests that will be overcome with your special magical sticker album.

It’s creative, and the perfect kind of game in a busier release schedule that 2023 has offered. I’ll complete this on my Steam Deck in an evening, and I can’t wait to do that.

A Tiny Sticker Tale comes to Nintendo Switch and Steam October 4.

Ooblets (October 5)

Ooblets finally comes to Steam this week, after previously being an Epic exclusive since last year. It’s presented as a farming sim/creature collecting hybrid, and there’s dance moves, obviously… Raise a cozy home from the ground up, and raise your own Ooblets by growing them from seeds to have your own plant army.

They won’t be fighting though, as all encounters are handled through dance, footloose style! Each type of Ooblet has its own set of dance moves, so its up to you if you want a squad that works together well in dance offs, or go for style and create the ultimate boogie team.

Ooblets comes to Steam on October 5.

Wargroove 2 (October 5)

The popular Wargroove series returns this week as Wargroove 2 launches on Steam. Set three years after the events of the first game, and with all new set of commanders to charge into battle with. A tiered Groove system also arrives alongside three new single-player campaigns. The sequel also bring in ‘Conquest’ that’ll serve up a tasty looking roguelike mode.

The map editor and cutscene maker also returns, cementing the sequel’s status as a full upgrade of the originals offerings. Wargroove 2 is bigger and better…

It charges onto Steam and Nintendo Switch, October 5.

And that’s my week in indie games! As always, thanks for reading, hopefully one of these great looking games has taken your fancy. We all need to do our bit to support indie gaming, and the indie enclave is my way of doing just that. For more indie content, why not check out my review of the brilliant Chained Echoes?
